Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2025

This website, icarusstreettherapy.com, is run by me — an individual, not a company. I respect your privacy and want to be transparent about what happens when you visit this site. This policy explains what data is collected, why, and what your rights are under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Who I Am

I am the individual behind Icarus | Street Therapy. This is a personal project focused on mental health awareness, recovery, and lived-experience coaching. I am based in Cornwall, United Kingdom. If you have any questions about this policy or your data, you can reach me via the Contact page.

What Data I Collect

Google Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the website — for example, which pages are visited most and how long people stay. This helps me improve the content and experience.

Google Analytics collects:

  • Pages you visit and how long you spend on them
  • Your approximate location (country/city level, not precise)
  • Device type, browser, and operating system
  • How you arrived at the site (e.g. search engine, direct link, social media)

Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish between visitors. IP addresses are anonymised by default in GA4. I do not use this data to identify you personally.

Google’s own privacy policy can be found at: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Contact Form

If you use the contact form on this site, I will receive the information you submit (such as your name, email address, and message). This data is used solely to respond to your enquiry. I will not add you to any mailing list or share your details with anyone else.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This site uses cookies only through Google Analytics. These are:

CookiePurposeDuration
_gaDistinguishes visitors2 years
_ga_*Maintains session state2 years

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or delete existing ones. Note that blocking cookies may affect how the site appears in analytics, but will not affect your browsing experience.

Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UK GDPR, I rely on the following legal bases:

  • Legitimate interest — for analytics data, to understand site usage and improve content. This is balanced against your rights and the minimal, anonymised nature of the data collected.
  • Consent — for any information you voluntarily provide through the contact form.

Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of any personal data I hold about you
  • Rectification — ask me to correct inaccurate data
  • Erasure — ask me to delete your data
  • Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
  • Restrict processing — ask me to limit how your data is used
  • Complain — lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)

To exercise any of these rights, please contact me through the Contact page.

Data Sharing

I do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties. The only third-party service that receives data from this site is Google Analytics, as described above.

Data Retention

Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry, then deleted.

Children’s Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 16. I do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has submitted data through this site, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

I may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. I encourage you to review this page periodically.
